About
PracticeTax is a set of tax and compliance tools for Australian professional practices, published by eHealth Systems Pty Ltd (ABN 29 647 383 588). The company has been operating since January 2021 and is registered in Victoria.
Three names are involved: eHealth Systems Pty Ltd is the company. e-health.au is the company's own domain, where the contact email (info@e-health.au) lives. practicetax.au is this site. The email is a company mailbox, not a site alias.
Why a health technology company built a tax tools site
The contractor practitioner payroll tax question — whether payments to GPs, dentists, physiotherapists and other practitioners under Service Facility Agreements are deemed wages — is a health sector problem. It arose from the Thomas and Naaz Pty Ltd v Chief Commissioner of State Revenue decision and has created retrospective exposure for medical practices across Australia. eHealth Systems Pty Ltd built the medical practice worksheet because it is a health sector problem that needed a proper tool.
The payroll tax engine exists because the medical answer cannot be calculated without it. Deemed wages from contractor practitioners are tested against the same jurisdiction-specific thresholds, tapers, and surcharges as any other wages. A practice in Victoria with contractor GPs and employed nurses needs to know its total Victorian wages against the $1M threshold, the $3M–$5M phase-out, and the Mental Health and COVID-19 Debt surcharges. That is the same engine any multi-state employer needs. The general calculator serves both audiences.
Who this is for
Medical practice principals, SME business owners, CFOs, bookkeepers, payroll managers, and tax accountants who need accurate, multi-jurisdictional tax figures without navigating eight separate government portals.
How the figures are maintained
Each jurisdiction is verified against the administering revenue office quarterly and following each state and territory budget. Verification dates are published beside every figure on the rate table and on each jurisdiction page. Where a figure could not be confirmed from published material, it is flagged as unverified rather than guessed. See our methodology page for every source.
What this is not
eHealth Systems Pty Ltd is not a registered tax agent and does not provide tax advice. The calculators produce estimates for discussion with a registered tax agent or specialist adviser. See our disclaimer and editorial policy.
